Chamonix
Chamonix Mont Blanc is situated 88 km south east of Geneva close to the Swiss and Italian borders. It’s no secret that Chamonix has been a favourite among expert skiers for many decades. It is also famous for its buzzing nightlife, bars and restaurants. The town’s setting in a glacial valley at the foot of Mont Blanc makes a spectacular backdrop for any winter sports activity.

Don’t feel intimidated if your French is not up to snuff because Chamonix is one place where just about everyone speaks English.
Although Chamonix has a reputation as a destination resort reserved for experts, there is access to plenty of terrain for skiers and boarders of all levels. They also have night skiing. For families and non-skiers there are gondolas, cable cars and cog railways to access great spots on the mountain range for a bite to eat while taking in the scenery. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing is popular. A sports facility intown includes a gym, indoor pools, tennis, squash and saunas. There is also an ice skating rink, a museum, ten-pin bowling alley, casino, and even… (whisper it) a McDonalds!
Chamonix is conveniently located next to the Mont Blanc tunnel, about an hour from Geneva airport. Other resorts close by include Megeve, Les Houches, Courmayeur, and St. Gervais. Skiing at Chamonix is certainly not cheap but there are a range of passes to suit all levels, as well as discounts for seniors and children.
