Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) separates Courmayeur from its neighbour on the other side, the French ski resort of Chamonix. Courmayeur is a good all-round resort offering great runs for all abilities, with good beginner runs, plenty of intermediate slopes and a few challenging high altitude runs and off-piste areas for experts. To get maximum skiing variety, a pass to ski other resorts close by in the Aosta Valley can be purchased. Courmayeur is a traditional, atmospheric town, set at 1244m, with charming cobble stone streets. The centre of Courmayeur is pedestrian-only, and offers great shopping, an ice rink, restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, and a lively après ski scene. A trip to Italy is always a good bet for fantastic eating experiences. Although Courmayeur typically has good snowfall, snowmaking facilites are also available. There are also excellent trails for cross-country skiers. The Cresta D’Arp and Cresta Youla cable cars sweep skiers, boarders and visitors up to a very high altitude to access incredible off-piste skiing - when conditions allow; however, the cable car ride alone may be thrill enough. Courmayeur has three main areas, each with a separate access to the skiing and attracts skiers from all over the world. Although you will hear many languages, English is widely spoken.
